By Riley S. Lovejoy, Attorney at Law – A 26-year-old man from Tacoma was allegedly drunk when he drove his Toyota 4-Runner around the winding curves of Highway 7 near Eatonville, WA on Saturday. As he was driving northbound, he attempted to pass two cars in front of him by driving in the southbound lane. As he executed the pass, a motorcyclist in the southbound lane swerved into the northbound lane to avoid being struck by the accelerating SUV. Tragically, the 26-year-old DUI suspect swerved back into the northbound lane, striking the motorcyclist and knocking him off his bike. One of the vehicles he passed ended up hitting the motorcyclist, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspected drunk driver faces charges of vehicular homicide, DUI, and illegal passing.
