Washington State DUI Attorney: Deferred Prosecution - changes to licensing laws in 2011
If you are considering entering into the Deferred Prosecution program and this is a first offense, you might consider waiting until January. As of January 1, 2011, there will be significant changes to the deferred prosecution program and the licensing requirements. As of the present time, if you enter the deferred prosecution program you need to apply for an ignition interlock license and have this license for 2 years. This license includes having the ignition interlock device and SR 22 insurance. As of January, 2011, a person who has no prior DUI offenses and enters the deferred prosecution program need only have the ignition interlock device for 1 year and no SR 22 insurance. This wil save the individual particating thousands of dollars - money that can be used for treatment! More updates on the many changes in this law in the days ahead.
