Snohomish County DUI Attorney: ATV driver gets DUI after whipping kids into Police car
SPOKANE, Wash. -- Police say a man was driving an ATV drunk down a hill pulling two kids behind him on a sled when he swerved to miss hitting a Spokane police car and ended up whipping the sled into the side of the car.
KXLY-TV reported that the incident happened around 8 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Freya and East Pratt. Police say an officer was parked at the bottom of the hill when he heard the ATV come rumbling over the top.
When the ATV driver, 33-year-old Ramon D. Noggles, neared the patrol car, Noggles swerved and whipped the sled carrying a 7-year-old boy and 10-year-old girl into the back of the squad car.
Both children on the sled were taken to the hospital by ambulance. Their condition is not known.
Additionally there was an 8-year-old girl and boy riding on the back of the ATV. Neither were injured. Neither the children on the sled nor those on the ATV were wearing helmets.
Noggles was booked into jail for investigation of DUI and two felony counts of vehicular assault.
The officer estimated Noggles was going about 35 miles an hour at the time of the crash.
